The Lab @ USC, Los Angeles

Last week Alex and I stopped in for a late meal at The Lab, which is just a few minutes down the road from me. We started with some edamame, served hot, which is unusual. We were both curious to see how the hot edamame would work out, and it was absolutely delicious! The serving was huge, and I ate so much that I didn’t even end up needing a main! Alex had steak and french fries for his main course- they lived up to any good pub standard. His one complaint was that they didn’t have hot English mustard (“you can’t call yourself a gastropub and not have hot mustard!”). For dessert I had an ice cream sandwich with coconut chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies and salted caramel ice cream. The ice cream was rich and delicious, however the cookies were hard as a rock, which made the whole thing difficult to eat. Overall, we had an easy, enjoyable meal, and will keep The Lab in mind when we are craving something filling and delicious in the neighborhood!
