Alcove Cafe and Bakery, Los Feliz LA

A few Sundays ago several of us decided to take advantage of the lovely weather during brunch. One of our companions suggested Alcove for it’s bustling patio, fantastic people-watching and short waits, so we headed over. You order at the counter, and even though the line was out the door when we got there, it went by quickly as we mulled over the menus. The boys ended up choosing items from the brunch menu, and us two girls (uncharacteristically) opted for salads. Our food came out promptly, but Alex’s was wrong- he received an omelette instead of scrambled eggs, but he couldn’t be bothered sending it back. We all enjoyed our experience at Alcove, but it was more because of the company, mimosas and nice setting than because we thought the food was great. Everything was just fine- my entree was the best out of the bunch, yet the chicken was overcooked and the peanut dressing was heavy and not very flavourful. Everyone else shared my sentiment regarding their meals- and all in all, if we ever return to Alcove, it’ll be for the patio and people watching, not the food.
